Rector - Vacant
Revd Helene Horan
Revd Andi & Briony Thomas
The Diocese will begin the process for appointing a new
Rector once current restrictions are eased and we can actually meet in person again. In the meantime we're praying for the present and the future as we ask God to be with us and to guide us during this time of change.
Helene and Andi are continuing to serve the church and community.
Helene joined St Andrews as Curate in July 2017 after her Ordination. She lives at Marston Green with her husband Richard. Helene’s role is to assist the parish priest in the duties of worship and encouraging others to follow Jesus. She is a bit of an Eco warrior and has managed to steer St Andrews into gaining the Bronze Eco Church Award. She has an empathy for the elderly and leads a Chaplaincy Team at the local care home.
Helene enjoys working with young children and their carers where she enjoys sharing the love of Jesus through craft work and Bible stories. Helene has worked on Chelmsley Wood since the late 1990’s and is enlivened by the true sense of community that Chelmsley Wood represents.
We welcomed Frances to our team as Warden last year. What an incredible addition to the team. Frances has a heart for people and made a huge impact serving the church and wider community. Frances brings with her bags of experience, leadership and wisdom, not to mention a sincere and warm heart making everyone feel welcome and we love having her on board.
Andi’s focus will be to work with people living on 'The Wood' with a view to creating a new worshipping community. That’s where the “pioneering” bit comes in; it’s about engaging with people and families, telling them about God’s love and inviting them to follow Jesus.
Briony heads up the women's ministry. A number of gatherings with women and young girls from the estate throughout the week, including the Created to Create group and a new Little Things Baby Bank which we launched launched Nov 2020.

My name is Jane, I am a retired head teacher, having spent all my working life in education. My first connection with St. Andrew's Church was when my husband Chris was the treasurer here. During that time, I came to know and love the people who have always made me feel very welcome. In addition to being safeguarding coordinator, I am also a member of the parish church council and social committee.
Whenever I can, I love to spend time outdoors, enjoying the changing seasons and nature and appreciating all God's gifts.
